This circuit shows the response of an inductor when driven by alternating current. Current (in yellow) and voltage (in green) across the inductor are shown in the scope below the circuit. Note that current lags voltage; when current starts to flow, the inductor resists it and voltage across the inductor is at maximum. As the cycle progresses, the inductor voltage goes to zero, allowing current to reach its peak value.
